A bit about Maggi O

Hi there, I am a fully qualified Tutor from the post 16 sector. I have spent around 25 years coaching and mentoring young people and adults from basic entry literacy, functional skills, and GCSE. In particularly specialise in working with Learners from disadvantaged backgrounds who need extra support and encouragement. My lessons are tailor made to suit the learning style of my Students. I like my sessions to be as interactive as possible to enable my Learners to reach their maximum potential. The central aim of my sessions is for my Learners to feel comfortable, empowered and better able to get a better understanding of their subject matter. I enjoy my teaching most when I see a struggling student gain confidence and understanding in their subject area of choice. If a student says “I don’t get this “ but then goes on to achieve great success. Literacy, functional skills English, literature, elementary piano, mindful arts and crafts, I started tutoring around 25 years ago so have a great deal of experience in this area. I have worked in numerous colleges and educational establishments over the years. I also specialise in developing learning programmes which meet a wide variety of needs for both individual organisations and private individuals needing customised tailored subjects. My teaching style is very informal. I am particularly interested in the Learners individual Learning styles and tend to tailor my programmes around that. So for example if a Learner is away for example a visual Learner, I will tailor my session with lots of visuals to help to enhance the Students understanding. The central aim is to keep the sessions, fun and interesting.
