A bit about Silvia

Ciao, benvenuti sul mio profilo! I'm Silvia, a well-experienced Italian tutor. I was born and raised in Italy and, after my MClassL (Master of Classical Languages, gained cum laude at the University of Bologna), I earned a Ph.D. in Archaeology. I have wide experience in the educational sector, having taught at the university and in different Italian schools, and having spent many years as an editor in a well-established Italian publishing company specializing in History. When I was in Italy, I taught pupils and foreigners the Italian language and, once moved to the U.K., I started tutoring small groups, adults, and children. In the last four years, it has been a real pleasure accompanying them on their journey into the Italian language and culture, leading them towards new discoveries, supporting them in difficult learning times, and sharing their happy feeling about what they accomplished. My lessons are always tailored to students' needs, in an engaging and enjoyable way. I believe that curiosity is the key to unlocking the potential of learning or, even better, acquiring a new language. I plan out my lessons following two criteria: 1) students' specific way of learning (some of them prefer to have a deep insight into grammar; others prefer to avoid it); 2) their purposes (exams, research, business, holidays). To get the most out of them I apply different approaches and teaching styles, using a wide variety of inputs. My students love the way I manage to find interesting and compelling materials, running the gamut from music to art, literature, food, history, or any other topic they chose.
