A bit about Clare L

My tutoring philosophy is based on partnership. Understanding your child`s needs is crucial, so I`ll carry out a detailed assessment to formulate a three-point action plan for the first six weeks, enabling your child to experience real success and boost their confidence. After this, the action plan will be constantly reviewed and updated, enabling your child to build upon their achievements to become more confident and proficient both in tutorials and at school. Qualified as a teacher in 1997 and have enjoyed a varied and rewarding career in the north-west of England and West Midlands as a classroom teacher, Assistant Headteacher, and Deputy Headteacher. My experience ranges from large primary schools in areas of social deprivation to small rural schools, with my current role in an Alternate Provision school in where I teach students upto GCSE-level. I have developed a comprehensive toolkit of strategies to enable all students to make outstanding progress, irrespective of their individual needs. In my free time, I enjoy watching cricket - particularly England! I'm also an avid historian - so I spend a lot of time visiting castles and historic sites. BA Hons History 2.1 University of York PGCE University of East Anglia Postgraduate Diploma in Maths (KS2/3/4) University of Plymouth Learners really enjoy the sessions because they are interactive. They like the fact that they have worked examples as well as having fun and they can then use/keep these to help them in their school/college work. They feel that have developed a really good working relationship with me and can explain their concerns knowing they will be listened too. I specialise in teaching Maths and English from KS1 to KS4. I have been very successful with supporting children with 11 plus and entrance exams. I have supported many children with SEN and individual learning needs and I'm used to tailoring lessons to meet the following needs: dyslexia, dysprexia, anxiety, syndromes involving gene deletion, problems with working memory, autism, adhd, emotional difficulties, cerebal palsy and SEMH issues. Outside teaching, I really enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy watching cricket (England and Worcestershire). As an avid historian, I also enjoy visiting castles and historical places of interest. Running is also another passion of mine - even on those colder days!
