A bit about Matt R

Hello, I'm Matt and I'm an experienced professional musician and music tutor. Whilst my 'day job' sees me conducting orchestras and operas around the world, including at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, I am equally passionate about teaching and am delighted to help students achieve their goals. With nearly a decade of experience tutoring in instrumental music services across London, and more recently as a Visiting Lecturer in composition at Falmouth University, I have a holistic understanding of music education. With degrees in both performance and academic musicology, I am happy to tutor all areas of the A-level and GCSE music syllabuses, as well as at university-level. Bachelor of Music (with Honours) in piano from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Masters in Musicology from the University of Glasgow Research Fellowship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Private composition study with some of the UK's leading composers and conducting studies at the Hochschule für Musik Basel. I'm hugely passionate about music. I believe that it has the capacity to change lives for the better and I am on a mission to ensure that every student has the opportunity to experience music at its best. I'm also a real 'nerd' about music theory and history, and love to delve into the stories behind classical music with students.
