A bit about Gillian A

I am a Primary School Teacher with nine years of classroom teaching experience. I am DBS checked. I love teaching young children, especially those in Reception to Year 4. I teach primary aged Math, English, Science, Geography and History. I am enthusiastic about teaching and learning. I encourage my students to participate in lessons by using positive praise and certificates as rewards. I plan interactive and engaging lessons tailored to my students academic level and interests. I am patient and kind, and I encourage children to have a ‘go’ at questions even if they don’t answer correctly, as making mistakes is vital for learning. I have experience teaching children with English Additional Language, and Special Educational Needs, mainly autism. I will endure to accommodate your times/days preferred. My personal interests are children’s mental health, knitting—painting, outdoor activities and spending time with my family. I look forward to hearing from you soon! All Primary National Curriculum subjects I would assess your child and then plan lessons accordingly. I usually start the session with a game, then main part of the sessions followed by review to assess understanding of the subject taught. After six weeks, I will assess your child again to track progress and identify areas for development. Last year I love teaching all subjects in the National Curriculum, particularly English and phonics . I love teaching English because I believe that writing and reading are the fundamental skills to learning in school so it is important it is taught accurately and effectively. Fun, engaging and interactive. I use different resources to teach lessons such as online games, colourful power points and quizzes. I encourage children to actively participate in lessons even if they are unsure of the correct answer. My philosophy for learning is ‘we learn by making mistakes’. I use simple strategies to help aid understanding of particular skills , for example rhymes to remember spelling of words Helping children to achieve their full potential. I am friendly and kind. Assertive but approachable and helpful. I am also patient which means children aren’t afraid to participate in sessions. When a non verbal child started to communicate her feelings. This was a huge achievement for her as she was diagnosed with ASD Qualified teacher status I want to help others reach their full potential. I believe that what you learn in primary schools lays the foundation for future learning. This inspired me to become a primary teacher as I want to make sure all children have a chance to have a good education.
