A bit about Leanne E

I specialise in general science at KS3 and KS4, I have taught both combined and triple science. I also specialise in students with SEND and anxiety. I am a fully qualified teacher with five years of experience in the classroom. I like to make my lessons engaging, fun and informative. I pride myself on helping individuals build upon their subject knowledge and confidence. I like to work with the student to ensure they are fully comfortable with the content I am delivering. We will work through the content, practice exam questions, simulations, games and general tips about exam technique. I have tutored for five years, since I became a teacher of Science. It is a job I enjoy doing around my work - it allows me to help individuals with their goals and gives great job satisfaction. I love how it allows you to see the world in a different light. When you study science you have a greater understanding of how things work, how humanity has come to such conclusions and even how to recognise dangers. Science is a subject that has a reputation as being difficult and boring. It doesn't have to be, a great tutor will ensure that. My style matches the student's learning style. I struggled at school - I have dyslexia so I have a very good understanding that the learning has to match the style of the student. I make my lessons fun, I try not to take myself too seriously - I like to let my personality shine through to make my lessons contextual, relatable and effective. I teach year groups 7-11 and all exam boards. I am a huge gamer, I have been for over thirty years and I love all genres of games. I also enjoy geocaching, sci-fi shows and cake. Can cake be an interest? It is now. I have dyslexia and I struggled at school. My teachers ignored me as I did not make too much noise. When I found my learning style I went to college, then university and after my physics degree I went back and got my science GCSE's (I knew I could do better, so I went to night school). I promised myself I would be the teacher I wanted, the teacher I needed. No one I teach will feel the way about science, or school the way I did - Ive made that promise to myself. I have a degree in acoustical physics and a PGCE in secondary science education. My greatest success is always helping students realise their potential and guiding them to apply themselves to do their best. I love seeing my students become more confident; not just in science but also in themselves as individuals. I'm a little crazy, I show my passion for my subject and I show my personality. I bring games, simulations and context to my lessons so they can develop their subject knowledge, math skills, revision skills and general confidence. Helping individuals with their goals. Helping people is incredibly rewarding and it is an honour to be with my students helping them in their educational journey.
