A bit about Samantha M

I specialise in literacy, linguistics and literature. My experience involves secondary level predominantly, however, I also have a wealth of experience with primary students. I also have experience teaching students with additional needs (dyslexia, autism, ADD/ADHD) as well as ESL. I have worked with the following GCSE examination boards; AQA, WJEC, Pearson. Currently, I am working part time with primary students to support them towards their secondary entry exams (11+ and the like). This work includes a lot of mathematics support which is also something I am experienced in teaching! I have worked in a wide variety of schools and have supported students both online and face to face. This year I was tutoring in a high school and saw my students work from grades 3 or 4 to 5 and 6 after just 15 sessions! Do not hesitate to enquire about any specific subjects/topics. My interests include reading - "reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body". Currently, I am reading '12 Rules for Life' by Jordan Peterson. Also, I love to cook! I am always trying out new things and I am very likely to ask you what your favourite meal is. I like to keep fit so I often go swimming or go to exercise classes in my free time. Students love the variety I bring to my lessons. No two lessons are the same and I always make sure I make my lessons both engaging and helpful. It won't ever feel like a chore! I believe learning should be an enriching experience, not just academically but also to contribute to the self as a whole. Therefore, you will be treated as a human who wants to learn and not just a number in a statistic. Education is one of the most important parts of our world. Development should also be one of the most important parts of you. Playing a part in that is what I wake up for in the morning! My qualifications/certificates include: - PGCE Secondary English - Qualified Teacher Status - English Language and Literature BA Hons - TEFL certificate - Mental Health First Aid Level 2 - Understanding Dyslexia certificate - Supporting Children's Wellbeing and Mental Health certificate Able to supply evidence upon request.
