A bit about Anika

We are all different, it's what makes us special. So why is it, that when it comes to teaching, children are taught in large groups, though they are all the same? I strongly hold the view that children should be treated as individual and unique learners. This means, smaller, personalised lessons as appose to the one-size-fits-all learning which does not allow children to reach their full potential. I also believe that learning should be child led. This means that as appose routine memorisation, learning should be interactive, and free flowing- through discussions, group activities, exploring and projects. Not all children are able to show of their ability and skills from a test. Children should have the freedom to discover and enjoy learning without having their creativity taken away from them. Outside of teaching, I love to write my own books and also illustrate! I have published one quite recently called 'The Boy the Bird and the Stormy Mind'. It has received some fantastic feedback which was lovely especially as I thoroughly enjoy both illustrating and writing my own children's books! The free flowing discussions surround their learning. They love being able to feel comfortable and free within the classroom as I hold the belief that children learn best from someone they admire and trust as appose to a teacher who they fear and dislike!
