A bit about Bernice L

I am a friendly, encouraging and enthusiastic teacher, and my students love that about me! I place great importance on building rapport with my students as from past experience, that has really facilitated their learning process. I am also very patient and take time to make sure that my students understand what I teach as their progress is important to me. Hello! My name is Bernice Lee and I am from Singapore. I moved to the UK in 2016 to do my postgraduate studies in Oboe Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I graduated in 2020 and since then have been teaching Music and Mandarin full-time. Even though I grew up speaking both Mandarin as well as English, I would consider my mother tongue to be Mandarin. I converse mostly in Mandarin with my 6 month old son Oliver as I want him to grow up bilingual. I plan my lessons based on the individual student - what they want to learn, what their goals are, and whether they are a complete beginner or have learnt a little bit before. There are generally three aspects to my lessons - basic conversation (grammar and vocabulary), writing and listening.
