A bit about Yu L

I am a doctorate educated person with great interest and passion to teach Mandarin. Originally from China, I came to the UK in 2011 and have been living in this lovely country since then. I come from the southern part of China, lived in Beijing for a few years as an undergraduate. I have experience teaching Mandarin at the university, covering information from Pinyin to complex conversation including professional environments. I am happy to help you get more knowledge about Chinese and China at all levels! I am a patient and friendly chatter, I respect all cultures and embrace cultural differences. I enjoy music, sports and delicious food from all over the world. I have travelled to many countries in Europe as well as America. I very much tailor my lessons depends on tutee's needs. I have tutees cover wide range of age and professions. Some example: some of them wanted to teach English to Chinese students, one of them were an anthropologist who was particularly interested in China and Chinese, one of them were a writer who's keen to bring stories that are set in China to English readers. They all had different levels of Chinese skills and I loved tutoring all of them! I have also tutored students who were simply interested in China as an country with extrodinarily rich culture or Chinese as one of the oldest and hardest languages! Different learners have very different goal in mind where some are more serious language learner that are absolutely going academic style while some are a lot more casual, wanting to pick some sentences and basic conversations or be able to read subtitles in a TV programme.
