Tell us a bit about yourself.
I have been teaching and tutoring mathematics for over 13 years. I teach GCSE, A- level (pure, statistics and mechanics, further mathematics, further mechanics) and IB (International Baccalaureate) mathematics. I mainly teach the Pearson Edexcel curriculum but I also have great exerince in preparing students for diffrent maths exams such as AQA and OCR. In this case, mainly, Students come up with past exam papers, mock-exams and exam-style problems.
Which relevant qualifications do you have?
I have a master degree in mathematics. I have a qualified teacher status (QTS) in the UK.
What is your teaching style?
I believe that the best way of learning mathematics is by doing mathematics. I always encourage my tutees to practice maths on everyday basis. My method of teaching is child centered. I mainly use the Inquiry-based teaching. I am able to trace back the gaps in the student’s knowledge and fill those in so the student can move forward with their studies. My flexible teaching styles and my patience have been very helpful for my tutees with additional education needs.
What is the greatest success you've had with teaching?
I taught advanced subsidiary and advanced level mathematics to over 100 international and local students between Sept 2019 and Dec 2022. Over 90% of the students scored A* to C. I transformed struggling tutees into ones who performed well in mathematics with improved scores of between 75% and 90%.
What are your interests outside of teaching?
In my free time, I love visiting museums and other attractions with my kids. In social media, I like posting puzzles that would improve mathematical aptitude skills.
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that the best way of learning mathematics is by doing mathematics. I always encourage my tutees to practice mathematics on everyday basis. "Don't practice till you get it right practice till you can't get it wrong".
