A bit about Jennifer L

I am a highly versatile English specialist and am able to teach the 11+, English Literature and Language at GCSE and English Literature at A-Level. I also teach the IELTS to UK based International Students. I am also able to provide tuition and support for GCSE Media Studies. Aside from tutoring, I am empathetic and enjoy getting to know my students - so expect a couple of minutes catch up before the lesson begins! My teaching style is student led - I am here to work for you, the student. Of course I have a plan for the lesson but I am flexible in my approach. During the lesson, if we deviate slightly and end up talking about something else (relevant to the lesson of course), then so be it. Exploring the wider issues in the world is an important part of studying English. Equally, if a lesson needs to change direction then I am experienced enough to be able to do so. My planning for the next lesson is always guided by the student and we work closely together to achieve goals and succeed. My philosophy is that learning should be fun and beneficial. The world is hard enough without extra tuition being a chore. I am a huge believer in gaining the trust of my student to ensure that we have the strongest professional working relationship possible. I believe that learning should be relevant to the interests of the student and therefore, I use the knowledge I have of the student to influence my subject matter in the tailored lessons we have together.
