A bit about Liam B

A keen Battery Research Engineer, specialising in Electron Microscopy. I have a proven track record of tutoring and students improving their grades for both Maths and Physics (AQA and Pearson Edexcel) I specialise in Mathematics and Physics tutoring for Key Stage 3 and GCSE. I take the first lesson to understand the learning style of the student to maximise their output in the following sessions. During the first introductory lesson, we will work together to understand the students learning style and their current level of work through an exam type situation. This is nothing to be stressed about though as we will work through it together. Following this, I will plan the following 7 sessions based on their weaker sections. I will work to tackle a weakness each session and also enhance a strength to ensure every mark is given in the exam (Time dependant) At the end of each session, I will set a question based on the weakness covered to assess whether the student has understood what we have covered. In the following session, the first 5 minutes will be used to understand whether the student has retained the previous sessions information. If this is no the case, we will try the learning of that eakness in a different way. I started tutoring Family Friends children in 2019. These students all came to me between 4 to 6 weeks before their exam and were all set to achieve a 3 (D) or less. With two sessions a week, and a lot of content in a short space of time, they managed to achieve at or above their target grades; which were all 5s or 6s (Cs or Bs respectively) Having a passion for mathematics and physics is something that inspired my job choice in engineering. I knew I would be able to use my skills to advance quickly in the Engineering sector. This passion allows me to help other student achieve their goals, and this is what I love most about teaching. The fact that I could assist my students achieve their dream job one day, that is why I tutor KS3 and GCSE Maths and Physics. I will adapt my teaching style to suit the student as much as is possible. Some students will prefer and inat the deep end approach and others will prefer a slow and steady wins the race approach. I will ensure I understand the student as much as I can to push them to achieve. The only thing I can't bring for them is effort, they have to bring that to each and every lesson, whether they want to be there or not. I love seeing my students try. Simple as that. If they try they will succeed. With tutoring they get that helping hand that even I used during my A-Levels to ensure I achieved. But the one thing I never did was give up. That's all I expect. Never say I can't do it, always say I don't know how to do it YET A family friend I tutored in Maths was working at a 3, and within 5 weeks she worked so hard in the tutoring sessions that she was achieving a 7 in the mocks I had her do. In the end she was not able to take the exam due to covid, but she knew that she had achieved it and that's all she cared about. The effort and determination she put in; in the face of a global pandemic, was inspiring. I have an A-Level in Mathematics and Physics, a BTEC L3 Diploma in Applied Science and have worked in Engineering for the last 4.5 years. In that time I have worked through the majority of my degree part time due to work commitments, and I am set to finish my BEng in Electrical Engineering in May with a minimum of a 2.1.
