A bit about Jessica C

I have previously taught classes from Year 7 to Year 11. I have a wide variety of experience teaching students with different needs including SEN, SEMH and EAL. I specialise in AQA English Literature and AQA English Language. My favourite text from the AQA English Literature qualification is Jekyll and Hyde. My favourite question from the AQA English Language qualification is Paper 1 Question 5. I have 5+ years of experience in the classroom. My degree is BA Hons English Literature which is awarded by Edge Hill University. I hold a PGCE with QTS which is awarded by the University of Wolverhampton. During the lockdown, I also gained a Level 3 TEFL qualification. Tutoring allows me to create meaningful connections with students that a large class sometimes does not allow for. Tutoring allows me to address your specific needs and help you progress in areas you wish to develop. I enjoy sharing the passion I have for my subject with others and being a part of interesting subject based discussions. My goal is to help you achieve your goal, I aspire to be a part of your journey to success. My degree and specialism is English Literature. My personal areas of interest within English Literature is Gothic and Victorian literature. My teaching specialism is the AQA exam board. I practise student-centred teaching and learning. I aim to have positive relationships with my students and work to meet my student's needs. It is important to me not to just teach the content but to make real-world connections to the text and questions. I also try to develop my student's functional skills to help them not only develop as learners but become well rounded, competent learners in the future.
