A bit about Rachel G

I have taught in primary schools for over 10 years and worked in all year groups. Most of my time however has been spent in years 3, 4 & 6. I was a supply teacher for 3 years when I first qualified where I also taught years 1 and 2. I have arranged and taught maths intervention groups when working in year 6, in preparation for SATs tests. As a primary teacher I specialise in all subjects but at University I took PE as my subject specialism which I still really enjoy teaching in school. As my teaching career has progressed I have become more involved in the planning and teaching of maths and have also taught this at Functional Skills level (to young adults on apprenticeship courses). I really enjoy helping students progress and gain in self-confidence in subjects that they may struggle with. I believe it is often circumstance (e.g. large class sizes, peers behaviour) and not students ability that holds them back in mainstream education. Usually, through having one-to-one tutoring and support, they are able to achieve and to be part of this journey is very rewarding.
