A bit about Sarah G

I believe in interactive and engaging learning. If your child tells me they've been building a snowman, I love to turn that into a lesson about the water cycle! Where did the snow come from? What will happen to the snowman when it melts? Bringing science and geography to life with real life examples is my speciality!I have a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Science and Geography related subjects with five years experience working in Environmental Consultancy. I currently work as an English language teacher in Valencia, Spain and love working with kids of all ages but particularly excel with primary age students. I specialise in Science and Geography having worked for many years in Environmental Consultancy in the UK and having a Bachelor and Master's degree using these subjects. However, in the last two years I have been working in Spain as an English as a Foreign Language teacher and have built up an excellent knowledge of English grammar and have excellent written English to help students with essays or other homework. I also have a personal passion for English Literature. I believe in interactive and engaging learning. If your child tells me they've been building a snowman, I love to turn that into a lesson about the water cycle! Where did the snow come from? What will happen to the snowman when it melts? Bringing science and geography to life with real life examples is my speciality! I have been tutoring a 7 year old UK Primary school student for the last two years. What originally started as learning English as a second language, Mason is now fully fluent but we continue with lessons because we have so much fun learning together From reading Winnie The Pooh online and learning how to write our own poems and how different adverbs and ajectives enhance our writing, to working together to answer those big life questions that only 7 year olds have like "Why is Africa Poor?" or "Was Guy Fawkes a goodie or a baddie?" I like to start with asking students about what they learnt that day at school. By talking about what we have learnt we can re-enforce the learning and try to turn it into something they are interested in. Perhaps that might mean researching an extract from a book that they have been talking about at school, reading it together and talking about what they think it means and whether they like it. Or perhaps they've been talking about the digestive system, so we'll talk about what they ate today (for example a biscuit) and "the journey of a biscuit" through their body.
