A bit about Oren V

As a composer of music for Film and TV, and a session guitar player, I specialise in composition, guitar tuition, music theory, orchestration, arranging, music history and GCSE/A level studies. Describing music as a 'passion' would be an understatement. I am utterly dedicated to sharing my learned professional-creative skills in performance and composition in these lessons. I will show you how each individual has the power to harness the beauty of writing, understanding, and performing music. My undergraduate musical career began as a blues, rock, and soul session guitar player, collaborating with popular artists across Kent, Southampton and London. I played at local rock festivals such as Herne Bay Rocks. As COVID-19 denied all performances, I was determined to utilise this time to develop and progress another area of music I had been devoted to - composition. Studying a masters in composition, I wrote concert music for a series of live orchestral workshops and comprised a film music portfolio of 6 distinctive scenes. I studied a mixture of minimalist, modernist, contemporary classical, popular and film music. My personal favourites include Steve Reich, Claude Debussy, Olafur Arnalds and Joe Hisaishi! I took full advantage of being supervised by lecturers and teachers of international standing in the music industry, which has consolidated a number of compositional and performance-based skills, which I am excited to share with you! I completed my grade 8 in Rock and Pop Electric Guitar performance (Trinity) and was awarded a distinction, and also was awarded a distinction for music theory grade 5. I completed my Bachelor's degree in music and was awarded a first-class honours, and have just completed my master's degree in composition, and have been awarded a Distinction. I have been private tutoring GCSE, A level, and Electric Guitar tuition alongside my Masters's degree. I have run various types of music workshops for local charities. These experiences have consolidated my professional, thorough, yet comfortable learning environments when tutoring music. I have an enhanced DBS certificate. Endless potential in learning and creating. One never stops discovering those immense musical textures, melodic phrases, or pieces that inspire your best work. More importantly, this progression and discovery will never stop and when students embrace this they will succeed exponentially. I love identifying and encouraging these moments from students. Identifying areas of development and seeing a transition towards success is the rewarding aspect of teaching music. Learning can be extremely difficult, and prove to frustrate students endlessly. My best teaching experiences include beginning lessons with minimal prospects, yet progressing towards unforseen musical ambitions and skills. Reviewed on the reputable MyTutor tutoring agency, I have been described as a tutor "whom puts the student at ease and helps to build confidence in learning music theory", and as "assertive, punctual, professional and most importantly reliable". As students are all engaged in completely different ways, I provided a multitude of resource options, that can be interactive, comprehensive, written, or spoken! I ensure lessons are comfortable, yet structured and directed towards each individual's tutoring needs. I believe that all students have unique paths towards their own academic development and progress in different ways. My style is personalised to each individual and their specific musical goals. I like to completely separate school and online teaching environments. When amongst large groups of students, quieter individuals struggle to make the most of lessons in big classrooms. I will incorporate my own skills and knowledge from the music industry, and really focusing on the specific areas you want to work on, rather than the entire class. My lessons, therefore, ensure students are relaxed, happy, intrigued, where they now have the space to share and develop their knowledge.
