I love tutoring because it can have a greater impact in a student's life and I am able to actually teach the content without the usual classroom distractions. I can also go as fast or as slow as the student needs to fully understand the content. The planning can be done based on the individual learner's style, wether it is more visual or kinetic or wether there are any SEN to be taken into account. I have a combined experience of teaching and tutoring both in the UK and internationally of more than 15 years. All students can understand Mathematics (and Computer Science). It's made of simple concepts that are then put together to form more 'complex' things. Even when students report difficulties answering complicated questions, it is usually caused by gaps at some individual topic. Most people can comprehend the simple notions and therefore most people are capable of learning the complex ones as well. A great tutor can debug a student's brain, detect and then fix the gaps of the simple topics and then teach the students to put them together and use them in advanced questions for the top marks. Students love that they feel relaxed and not judged during the lesson. That they finally have the chance to ask questions and that somebody teaches for their learning style. They like that the lessons are engaging and that they can actively participate in the lesson. Ultimately, they love that they finally understand topics that they percieved as difficult in the past and that their scores improve. Feeling confident about a subject you were once failing or being able to increase your grade to achieve your dreams has a huge impact in student's life.
