A bit about Qian C

I was born and raised in Beijing China. Before I came to Manchester to do my PhD, I have been working in the industry as a medical advisor for over 6 years. I speak standard Mandarin and my English is fluent. I have around 1 year's Chinese language teaching experience for English speakers during my spare time. I started my first tutoring about 12 years ago when I was an undergraduate student. I helped high school Chinese students with their maths, chemistry, physics and English. Most of them went to their dream universities in the end, and these made me feel so proud. Approximately one year ago, I started trying to teach Chinese with English speakers, and feedbacks were positive as they have progressed a lot. I always encourage students to engage with me. They are encouraged to speak more and practice more without worrying about making mistakes. I am very flexible and always listen to the students patiently. If they have any difficulty catching up with me, I will adjust my teaching methods accordingly. I can teach with or without textbooks. I love setting up a situation, where students can put what they have learned into practice. Apart from teaching, I enjoy hiking, photographing and fencing. Being a teacher renders me a great opportunity to meet different people and spread knowledge. Students' any achievements would always make me feel proud. I am an extremely patient person. I understand picking up a new language is definitely not easy and requires long-term efforts. Therefore, when students feel frustrated, I always encourage them by listening to them patiently. They felt it warm-hearted to speak with me. Besides teaching the language itself, I love introducing and spreading the Chinese culture. there are no bad students, only bad teachers. I specialise in pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and writing, especially for business purposes and academic purposes.
