A bit about Steven M

I have been teaching English online for over three years having started in late 2018, and have so far taught over 1700 students and 4000 classes. My lessons usually involve a lot of laughter and my aim is to make learning feel like fun. My background is in journalism but I think open conversation is the best way to learn English, so I specialise in creating an environment where learning feels relaxing and not like a struggle. Hi! I'm Steve, a trained journalist and English teacher with a passion for people, travel and cooking. I have done many things in my life including editing, support work, cheffing and social media management, but my real skill is in working with people. I have been fortunate enough to travel all over the world, including places like India, Vietnam, North Africa and much of South America and Europe and I love to meet people and experience different cultures. I like to make my lessons fun, relaxed and engaging. I think we learn best when we feel comfortable and able to make mistakes. Meeting new people from all over the world and learning about their varied cultures. Being an online tutor affords me the flexibility to travel and have new and varied experiences. Learning should be fun! I have an honours degree in journalism. My mother, who is also a teacher! Cooking, travel, painting, politics and keeping fit in the gym.
