A bit about Deidrea A

I absolutely love making a difference to the learning experience of students. I feel delighted when they have those lightbulb moments where they 'get it'! We celebrate together and continue their learning journey. Having worked with children for over 10 years and been on the maths leadership team, I am equipped to help children ranging from year 1 through to year 6 in both maths and English become successful and confident learners. I specialise in Primary maths and English learning ensuring that children's learning gaps are narrowed and often closed. I support pupils with taking next steps in their learning therefore, becoming more confident learners who enjoy learning. Usually, my lessons begin with a brief reflection on either the previous lesson or an experience of interest to the student. A short introduction to the day's session is then done creatively to set the tone for learning. The focus topic for the day will be explored using resources that help the student to understand the topic more clearly. To draw the session to an end, the student will be invited to reflect on the learning done in the session, ask any unanswered questions and we may discuss the student's preferred topic for the next lesson. This is my usual plan which may be adjusted according to the student's needs during the session. I first started tutoring in 2017 when a group of pupils needed additional help with their learning in maths and English as they prepared for exams. They enjoyed learning with me so much that they continued for weeks after their exams were over. After that, I focused on classroom teaching where I helped children with varied needs and abilities become more confident learners and they succeeded beyond their expectations. I am now ready to shift my focus to helping pupils again either one to one or in small groups using my wide range of experience to help them succeed and be happy learners.
