A bit about Rugile

I am from Vilnius, Lithuania, where I have completed exams with the highest marks in Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, and Lithuanian. Currently, I am a final-year student doing BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences at the University of Manchester. I enjoy connecting with new people, helping fellow students, and learning something new every day. During my studies, I spent a year working in the industry, specifically in GlaxoSmithKline, where I realised that I want to specialise in cancer research. This led me towards performing a laboratory-based final year project on tumour microenvironment in ovarian cancer, which I have throughly enjoyed. The main career goal is to help patients and improve their quality of life. As a tutor, I really enjoy meeting new people and seeing the improvement in students' grades even after a few sessions. I find it rewarding to help the student finally understand the complex subject and improve their academic performance. I experienced tutoring at university by being a Peer Assisted Study Scheme (PASS) Leader. PASS is designed to support first years with their studies and help them settle into university life. I have organised and facilitated weekly sessions to assist 10 mentees with discussing and solving course-related problems. This experience helped the students to achieve higher marks in their exams and helped me to constantly refresh my knowledge on the subjects I took a few years ago.
