A bit about Karol L

I'm a 4th year modern languages student at Queen Mary University of London. I love my degree because I enjoy constantly learning about different cultures and the cognitive effects of language/ how perspective changes results in different areas. I believe that there needs to be a plethora of different teaching styles to suit the diverse needs of every student and I know I can help. There's nothing that someone can't learn. I specialize in modern languages and that covers the following: - Spanish - English (as foreign language too) - Translation - Sociology - Essay Writing - Historical Background - Research - IT Resourcing I like to keep lessons eclectic. There will be some fun activities based on videos, images or texts but there will also be down time where you get assigned a task to complete or something to read. If one method or activity works better, we can stick to that in future lessons. I first started tutoring in 2018 after completing a mentor program. I began as a volunteering tutor for people in years 8 and 9 in various subjects. Then I moved to tutoring adults English as a foreign language part time and a-level students for their respective exams and university applications. I just really like to share knowledge. I love seeing people enjoy what they're learning but I love the most about teaching is seeing that "eureka!" moment when someone gets an idea or finally understands what they were stuck on before. I apply a portion of visual, auditory, read, written and kinesthetic teaching to all classes. I direct a hybrid teaching approach where i'll be demonstrating, facilitating, delegating and sometimes lecturing but it is dependent on the student's learning style which one is more heavily applied. My students love that they can choose what type of activity they do. They learn just as much but just in a different way sometimes. As well as the use of metaphors to explain concepts that might have been difficult to understand otherwise. Its hard to name one because I'm proud of everyone's progress but I would say any time someone comes back to me proud that they got a high test score or that they were able to teach someone else by using a method I taught them. I have all GCSEs grades A*-C. I did Dance, Sociology and Spanish A-level (grades; B,C,B). I am currently in the process of completing my BA in Modern Languages with a 2:1 average. One of my mentees asked me to and I ended up really enjoying it. I'm interested in blog writing and dance in my free time. I really enjoy nature programs and learning how to take care of different animals All year groups up until year 11. I cater to the following exam boards: AQA, OCR, TEFL, Pearson, Ascentis
