A bit about Charlotte G

I have a PhD in Zoology and have helped teach lots of different classes for undergraduate students covering a lot of different areas of biology. I have also developed and taught a foundation course (equivalent to A-level) in biology for foreign students looking to study in the UK. I have experience teaching a range of age groups from volunteering as a science outreach officer during my undergraduate degree. Everyone learns in a different way so I like to tailor my teaching style to the needs of a particular student. However, in any case two-way communication is key - I want to have an open discussion, where we can both move forwards together, and any questions can be asked at any time. I believe that science is all about sharing ideas and questioning them. I have been tutoring for the last 6 years, across a range of age groups. I have run hands-on experiments for ages 6-18 at school events, as well as events for members of the public. Since then, I have tutored for a range of university classes during my PhD, especially focussing on statistics and programming for biology. This involved both on-on-one and larger class sizes, both in person and online. Additionally, I have written and taught an A-level equivalent foundation course tailored towards foreign students looking to study in the UK. This included researching and writing teaching materials, presenting in-person lesson, writing and marking exam papers. I specialise in A-level and GCSE biology, as well as writing and revision skills. I have experience with human, animal and plant biology, and the mathematical and statistical elements within biology.
