A bit about Sam K

I am an experienced primary school teacher who has worked in every key stage from KS1, LSK2 to KS2. I have a vast amount of experience in teaching a range of abilities as well as SEND needs. Can provide a high level of quality teaching and successful progress and outcomes for pupils across the whole curriculum and particularly in core subjects. I specialise in the teaching of English and Maths but also teach most subjects covered across the primary curriculum. Can also provide tuition in subjects such as music, science and the humanities. Using well structured and thorough lesson plans, i ensure that each lesson has a high engagement, participation and success rate. I am able to adapt the lesson with considerations being made for pupils with varying abilities and needs, so that each individual pupil is able to access the learning and successfully achieve the lesson objective. In my five years as a higher level teaching assistant and now as a fully qualified teacher, i have supported students with their learning, whether this is in small groups or on an individual basis. I enjoy teaching English, particularly the many elements of writing as I enjoy getting the children to develop their skills as storytellers, using their imaginations whilst also developing the writing skills they need in order to do this successfully. I love to see the pride that children can have in their work when they have created something from their own minds. I have a firm but fair teaching style. I enjoy being an animated teacher to engage the children in the learning. I am also patient and adaptable and understand that learning is a collaborative process between teacher and pupil and that this will not always look the same for each individual child. I enjoy being able to support a child's development not only academically but to see them also grow in confidence, pride and self-esteem. Each individual child has the right to be given the tools, skills, opportunity and confidence to be able to learn. My students would say that I am fun and try my best to make learning interesting and engaging. I work very closely with a child with severe autism and ADHD, he had always had a scribe but this year has started to write independently. This is a great achievement for him and for me as his teacher and one that I am very proud of. BA (Hons) Performing Arts PGDE Leadership in Education I wanted to have a job that gave me meaning and purpose and that I could see was making a difference. As a teacher in primary, you are not only teaching them education skills and knowledge but also developing them as young people who will go on to be members of society.
