A bit about Ruth

I started tutoring 25 years ago in English up to GCSE level. For the past 2 years I worked remotely as a TEFL, online English teacher for Chinese kids. The success of each student is my main concern. I am patient, understanding, sympathetic and encouraging but firm if necessary. What I love most about teaching my subjects is getting to know my students and enabling them to reach their full potential. I specialise in English for which I have a BA Open degree in languages and 3 A-levels in English, French and Latin. I gained a TEFL certificate too. My interests outside of teaching are chess, tennis, table tennis, movies, piano, French, cycling, cooking, cross stitch and knitting. My teaching style is student-lead. I follow the aspirations and academic ambitions of the student that I am teaching, having considered these aims while making my lesson plan for that particular student. Students love my teaching style of fairness and praise without unneeded criticism.
