A bit about Hannah K

I specialise in analogies and breaking down problems to help you understand. Happy to take the lead or let students determine the pace, I am able to get the best out learners with an enthusiastic style and love for the subjects. I have experience teaching all science subjects for all the GCSE exam boards and KS3 Science. Lessons will begin with a quick assessment of knowledge and understanding that has already been gained in a topic. There will be a main section of new learning with checks of understanding throughout and then a final summary and assessment to ensure the learner is ready to move on next time. To understand the Sciences is to understand the world around us. I love to share 'lightbulb' moments with learners, when they reach the answer to a problem or understand a tricky concept for the first time. Science is a new language for many learners and I enjoy helping to decipher it. Providing real-life links to aid understanding of concepts. Leading learners to find their own solutions via encouragement and targeted questioning. I have enough determination to see you succeed for the both of us. With 17 years of classroom teaching experience, I am extremely enthusiastic about helping students understand the Sciences. I have been a Director of Science, a Special Needs Coordinator and have varied experience of working with students of all ability levels. A 2.1 degree in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry and a PGCE in Secondary Science from the University of Warwick. A Masters degree in Social Justice and Education from University College London. 17 years experience in 5 different schools including one that specialised in moderate learning difficulties and autism. I have held the position of Director of Science in two schools. KS3 Sciences for Years 7-9 AQA, Edexcel, OCR for Years 9-11 Music, exercising & cooking. Seeing and sharing in progress, however small, and ultimately students achieving their goals.
