A bit about Rebecca

As a Head of English and Literacy Coordinator for a secondary school, I am passionate about improving standards and fostering a love of learning. I am interested in continuous development, I pioneer effective teaching strategies and pro-actively keep up to date with research and current practices. I aim to influence and inspire learners through using a diverse range of learning strategies while catering for all abilities and effectively analyse and evaluate outcomes of my learners and department. Proficient in blended learning and creating original resources using multiple technology platforms. I have experience in teaching all abilities and differentiate resources to suit the needs of my student. As a teacher for over 5 years, I am experienced in current teaching methods and know how to actively engage my students. As Literacy Cooridnator for a school, I handle withdrawal classes for SEN pupils and have a vast experience in improving learning needs of these students. I have been tutoring for 5 years and have always enjoyed engaging with pupils whether it be online or face to face. As a current teacher, I have created orginal resources and tailor each lesson to best fit the pupil infront of me. Tutoring allows me to enjoy a text all over again and even sometimes engage and study a text I have never taught before. You can have full confidence that I will provide the best and most enjoyable experience when learning a new text to getting to grips with PEE. I am a results driven teacher who thrives when students are actively learning and progressing. I am aware that students who engage with English tuition usually need that bit of extra attention in certain aspects of the specification. I am proud to have a 75% pass rate A*-C in English Language continuously each year and well above the Northern Ireland average. I also have 100% pass rate A*-C in English Literature each year. KS3 English , GCSE English Language , GCSE English Literature. CCEA Examiner and Moderator. Available to teach all exam boards including WJEC. Focus on: Writing for Purpose and Audience Personal and/or Creative Writing Analysing Non-Fiction and Media Texts (PETAL, PEE) SPAG lessons How to write an essay How to prep for an English Exam Controlled Assessment prep Literature: Prose: 'Of Mice and Men, 'Lord of the Flies', 'About A Boy', 'How Many Miles to Babylon?', 'To Kill a Mockingbird', 'Animal Farm' and others.
