A bit about Jake B

I graduated with a PGCE in 2017. I have been teaching in a variety of schools for the past 5 years and in a variety of leadership positions. Most recently as an Executive Vice Principal of Teaching and Learning. Passionate about Literature and using it as a base for creative writing and analysis. Have taught most exam boards for English and Drama. English and Drama As always, learning should and will be tailored to individual needs, whether that be learning something entirely new, embedding what you have learnt in school or college that week or exam prep and technique. Lessons usually start with recalling what has previously been learnt, followed by teacher input of new learning, cold and warm applications and summary to finish. I also offer bespoke lessons in social skills, stories and ASD support. Before I trained as a teacher I tutored primary aged pupils, which was over 6 years ago. I have privately tutored since. Unpicking a writers intention or meaning, delving into their mind through their literature. Fun and responsive to pupil need. Want to engage and have a laugh whilst learning. Tutoring should be a fun experience. My aim is to consistently provide pupils with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their exams and beyond. Building relationships and see the end result. That all pupils can succeed. That all pupils should have the opportunity to experience success in life and in education. I believe education can better pupils life chances and allow pupils to progress on to university. The relationships we build and the success they experience. An old pupil of mine beginning a masters degree in education. I have a PGCE in secondary Drama and English teaching. My own successful teachers. I knew it was what I was going to do the moment I met my secondary school Drama teacher. She was incredible. Travelling, music (gigs and festivals), love the theatre. I have a gorgeous cocker spaniel dog called Penelope who I enjoy seeing England with. I love travel abroad, most recently NYC!
