A bit about Meera P

I am an Australian national living in Germany and have had over 30 years experience teaching mathematics in various systems. And I still love teaching after all these years! I specialise in the IB Diploma courses, especially AA HL and SL and AI SL. I am very experienced with exam preparation and have access to a huge variety of questions! My lessons run according to the needs of my student. This works best if there is good prior communication before the lesson. Ideally, the student would send me screen shots or links of the questions we should work through together or at least a list of topics that they are having struggles with. I then have some time to find similar material to set for extra practice after the lesson. I have been tutoring for 30 years, even when teaching full time. During the pandemic, the need for tutoring increased as students required more support. Then I began tutoring online and realised how efficient and effective this can be. Especially with a wonderful interactive whiteboard! This summer I have taught 4 livestream courses: Exam revision and Pre-IB maths. I love helping young people achieve their goals. I enjoy seeing someone finally grasp a concept that they may have been struggling with for a long time. I enjoy the challenge of explaining concepts in different ways until my student understands it. I have been told that I am calm and patient and never tire of explaining things over and over. I never treat a student in a condescending manner or assume that they 'should know something'. I am a sporty, outdoors person. I love running, hiking and cycling. I also (try to) play the piano. I am not very good! A few years ago, 5 of my students achieved the highest grade of 7 for Maths Higher Level. This was great enough! But the real success was the passing grade of two students about whom I was very concerned that they may not make it!
