A bit about Ben

I qualified as a teacher in 2010, and within 8 years became head of school at the World Class Academy, an unusual secondary school which offered a programme of international travel, athletics and academic education to aspiring kiteboarding athletes. Having had my fill of adventure for the while, I left the World Class Academy to move to the South East of England, where I returned to the classroom as the Head of the Royal Mathematical School at Christ's Hospital, a prestigious boarding school in Horsham. I stopped classroom teaching two years ago and now focus on a small number of private tutoring clients. I tutor predominantly online, but love to teach face to face when it's possible. I specialise in Maths to A level, but as a school leader have planned curriculum for and taught English, Physics, and even Media Studies up to GCSE. I've been tutoring since 2006, when I was an engineering undergraduate, and have tutored more seriously since 2018. The route to learning any subject is well established, but a good teacher will navigate it in such a way that the student feels as if they are discovering it for themselves, and builds confidence in their own competency along the way. I moved out of the school system in part to allow myself the flexibility to travel more often. I am an active outdoor climber, kitesurfer and paraglider, and spend as much time as possible outdoors.
