A bit about Ollie F

I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE in secondary education. I have taught biology, chemistry, physics and Japanese up to KS4 level (GCSE exam boards AQA, OCR and Edexcel). I have also been an educational presenter, taught English in Japan and coached sports, so I have a huge amount of teaching experience in a range of settings. I specialised in science up to KS4 (GCSE) but I now focus on teaching Japanese up to KS4 (GCSE). I have a PGCE in secondary education giving me the knowledge and skills to successfully plan and deliver lessons for each individual student. I am a fully qualified teacher with qualified teacher status in the UK (QTS). I have completed TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) training and I have an undergraduate/master's degree in biological sciences. I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals and I enjoy spreading my love of science and languages! I am on my own journey to become fluent in Japanese (after teaching in Japan), so this is something I do regularly in my spear time. I also enjoy keeping healthy with regular exercise (mostly running), I enjoy gardening and playing video games! Since starting tutoring, I have been helping students studying science with AQA, OCR and Edexcel (+ IGCSE), and Edexcel Japanese so I can easily adapt my lessons to suit your exam board. I started tutoring online in 2020 but have been educating students in various settings since 2011. - Begin with a short starter to recap the last lesson. - Introduction to the lesson with some information and questioning. - Followed by a variety of tasks/activities to ensure the information is being absorbed. Personalised questions throughout! - Ending with a short summary of what has been learned and what the student feels they understand well/struggle with. - Homework can be set if it suits you! Getting people excited about the natural world and languages. I love to see students progress and improve over time. Everyone makes mistakes and we learn from them - I encourage students to always try their best. I also believe that everyone is different and requires a different approach to learning - I adapt lessons to suit each individual. My empathetic and encouraging nature. One-to-one teaching! I can develop important teacher-student relationships and students benefit from personalised learning to address their strengths and weakness in every lesson. I am encouraging, supportive and creative. My aim is so make an enjoyable and engaging lesson. Students will feel safe to try their best, make mistakes and ask questions.
