A bit about Anna P

I am a practising artist and tutor of EFL offering lessons in Art and Textiles, support with personal statements, portfolios, critical and contextual studies and art therapy to those interested and studying Art and Textiles. Why not learn English and Art at the same time! Beginner/Intermediate level I am qualified to teach EFL and ESOL holding a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) awarded by Trinity International Examinations Board at Oxford House College Barcelona, 2002. I have a First Class Bachelor of Arts Degree in Surface and Textile Design, industrial experience as a knitwear designer at several London and Brighton based studios - selling designs in New York and Florence and qualified to teach post compulsory (16+) in Art and Design. I have knowledge and experience of Edexcel BTEC National Diploma in Fine Art curriculum and Exam board and familiar with AQA GCSE Art and Textiles. BOOK LESSONS FOR: drawing, painting, printmaking, colour, sculpture, installation, experimenting, constructed textiles (basic plain knit, weave and felting), surface pattern, printed and dyed textiles, dyestuffs, basic machine stitching, appliqué, dye sublimation (heat transfer), yarns, threads and fabric types, idea development, coursework, annotation, personal statement, essays and portfolio. My teaching style is friendly and informative. I facilitate learning through motivation, encouragement and praise. I believe that all great and life-long learning begins with curiosity, passion and research. Art and Textile lessons start with discussing current work and then move on to a practical session that meets the needs of the student. This will usually involve artist research and visual inspiration. The end of the lesson will involve a quick 'critique' and discussion about how it went and how to move forward. I have over 2 years experience of teaching online and tutored many Year 10 and 11 Art and Textile students, college A-Level students, students in Higher Education and those looking to enter the world of art for the first time, helping them to develop their knowledge and skills through the formal elements of art and guide them through the creative process within their chosen area of study.
