A bit about Alex P

Tutoring English language and literature. Working with students to build their confidence and overcome major obstacles. Key stage 1, 2 and 3, with additional experience with SEN students and those who's first language isn't English. Reading, writing (both academic and creative), phonics, plus spelling and grammar, exam preparation, homework assistance and coursework & essay writing. Lessons are tailored to each student to address individual needs. I keep things relaxed and upbeat, making sure students are always happy and engaged. I use an abundance of resources, media and methods that will best suit a students needs and help them reach their goals. I started back in April 2018 teaching overseas students English as a foreign language, before moving onto tutoring UK students aged 8 to 15, as well as tutoring international adults various topics. The difference it makes in a students well-being is the most rewarding thing. An addiction to that, the English language never ceases to fascinate me, and transferring that fascination to the students is extremely beneficial. Fun and engaging. I came into this from a different place to most teachers. I incorporate a lot of my knowledge from other areas to provide something unique and highly rewarding. Building and boosting confidence is the key. Having struggled at school myself, there's a great deal of empathy in how classes are approached. The benefit of one to one tutoring is priceless, and gives a student something they will not necessarily be able to have in a regular classroom. The relationships I build with students and observing every little step of progress. Boosting a students confidence and watching them develop is a feeling like nothing else, and long may it continue. Building confidence is the key to learning. I am fun and do not take myself too serious and resonate with students because I speak to them on the same level. We are equals in class. Patience is a core strength, and has often been commented on. There is no rush. Every small improvement is a success, there is no stand out moment, they have all been fantastic. I hold a 120 hour TEFL certificate and a bachelors degree. My mother was a teacher, she is my inspiration. Writing, travel, film making, music, cooking, and other fun stuff. I mostly help with students between ages 8 to 15, but have experience with all ages.
