A bit about Elena P

I am a Spanish teacher with many years experience. I teach at a secondary school and understand well the difficulties the students encounter when learning languages. I help my students to get ready to undertake their A Level and GCSE Spanish exams. I am very experienced with the grammar of the language, I have a very good understanding of how to help the student with the speaking side of the examination, and for A level I have taught two of the books and one of the films required. I have also been a tutor for many years, giving those who just want to communicate in Spanish the confidence required. I have taught for many years in mainstream education the Spanish GCSE and A level courses, mainly with AQA although I also have experience with Edexcel. Any student who is undertaking these courses at the moment, will understand the difficulties of it. As an examiner for AQA, I have the knowledge on how to help the students better in order to overcome the difficulties of this subject. For A level Students, I have become quite accomplished with the IRP required for the speaking presentation. I can definitely help you create an amazing project. Before dealing with any specific topic, I like the students to have a basic knowledge of the vocab we are going to be dealing with. I use Quizlet quite a lot (I have my own account), and whether you are getting ready for your GCSEs or simply wanting to communicate, I have all my sets already upload and ready for you to learn them by playing with them. I also think it is important for those students who have to sit an exam, to understand the grammar of whatever situation they need to focus on. Finally, we will put all this together by using it in a conversation, in a reading comprehension or in a listening. I have not only been teaching for many years, but I have also tutored privaley for many years too. I find it enjoyable and personal. It gives the students confidence and feel a better connection with the subject rather than in a class environment where other students might take over the lesson. What I really love about my subject is not only my passion that I have for it but the enjoyment of seeing students speaking my language. Learning languages can be about listening to music, can be reading a book, watching a film etc and every time something is understood, it is another milestone overcome. As I said in some of my previous answers, I understand well AQA, both for A level and GCSE. I have also worked with EDEXEl. I love walking, swimming in the sea and watching good films. I have a dog, who is very energetic, Rafa (as in Rafa Nadal), who loves going out every day for very long walks. We live by the sea and we have the most beautiful landscapes and areas to exercise. Since I remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I started being a teacher tutoring students when I was in secondary school, I taught little children to read, at University, i taught English and Spanish grammar to secondary school students and also I started working in adult education, which I found one of the most rewarding experiences in my career. I have a degree in Linguistics or "Filologia Inglesa" by the University of Alcala de Henares, Madrid, Spain. Then, I came to live in the UK, I did a PGCE in Spanish and French. I have a qualified teacher status that allows me to teach in any school in this country. I think what they love the most is the variety of elements in my lessons. We can listen to music to make a grammar point, we can play interactive games to learn vocab, we can do speaking practice by putting the students in debate situations, etc. Believe in what you teach and make sure that every time you put yourself in front of a student, you love it as much as it if were the the very first time you do it. My greatest success is seeing students going to university and study the language that they start learning with me when they first came to college. I am still in touch with most of the students that I have taken all the way to university and they still come and ask for help. That is invaluable.
