A bit about Shahanna G

Being a tutor for 4 years has enabled me to build professional relationships and connect with students on a holistic level; allowing me to meet their individual needs. I am very passionate about boosting my pupils confidence when writing; however, not all of my activities include writing tasks, I enjoy keen discussions with students to broaden their interests in English literature and language I am quite flexible with any year groups but I have had the most experience with year 10 and 11 students. As a student myself, I have experienced the GCSE Edexcel exam board however I have had many years experience with AQA. I am very familiar with literary texts such as Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and An Inspector calls. Students have taken a keen involvement in discussion surrounding many literary texts. I usually tend to base the majority of my lessons on rich discussion to help broaden their thinking and understanding. Whilst studying English literature and language in university, my preference is literature. I have admiration for Victorian literature/19th century fiction which is my current focus point in my degree; however, I adore unpicking and analysing poetry and Shakespeare's work to gain a deeper understanding of the context of society.
