A bit about Emmanuel A

I love teaching English because I enjoy uncovering the different layers of meaning with my students. In the past, I have had debates with some students over interpretations of characters. I love teaching English because no interpretations are necessarily wrong (if you can support your argument.) I first started tutoring when I was 13 years old, however at the time I was tutoring students for the 11+ examinations. As I got older and gained more experience, I became able to tutor KS3 students and beyond. I usually start my lessons with a recap of what was previously studied. After this, I will begin the planned lesson. If we are studying a character/theme, I will initially ask the student for relevant quotations and we will discuss the layers of meaning for them. Next, I will give the student some minutes to write one paragraph in response to a question. I will then give 3 WWW's (What went well) and 1 EBI (even better if), in response to their answer. Finally, I will provide them with my model answer to the question.
