A bit about Graham

I have an Oxford University MA in English language and literature, I am also a qualified teacher, having taught in London schools for over 20 years. I tutor English at all levels. I give continuing feedback and welcome suggestions, so I recommend that parents are close at hand during each lesson. While I supply all the learning materials, I do not merely tick answers on worksheets. I pass on the knowledge, strategies and confidence which pupils need to deal independently with questions at school or college. I place special importance on writing skills. An author myself, I have published two books, and BBC Radio broadcast a short story I wrote. English GCSE is my speciality, both Language and Literature, but I also teach at A-Level, KS3 and primary. I prepare for exam classes, with experience of all UK exam boards, or I focus on improvement in general English skills, as the client requires. I tutor all age groups, including adults, though the bulk of my work is currently at school level. I have MA and BA in English Language and Literature from Oxford University. My teaching qualification is Diploma in Education from the University of Adelaide. I believe that whatever their level, wherever they are, students have the right to an excellent education, and I endeavour to provide just that. From the feedback I get, students find my teaching style patient, kind and encouraging. Many tell me that my lessons are fun! This is important, as when pupils enjoy what that are doing, they learn even faster. The best thing about tutoring is the moment the student understands something for the first time. They may have struggled with it at school or on their own, but they understand now.
