Outstanding English teacher and examiner with 21 years experience

An outstanding teacher of English with 21 years experience. An examiner with AQA, WJEC. I have spent 21 years in education, teaching students of all abilities, needs and personalities! I've been rated as outstanding by Ofsted several times and worked as an Advanced Skills Teacher helping teachers across the county develop their practice. I love getting to know students - how they learn best and what they are interested in. I'm calm, friendly and keep things light-hearted - students enjoy my lessons.
I specialise in both English and English Literature from age 11 to A Level. Texts include: Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Inspector Calls, Christmas Carol and others. I love teaching everything from Shakespeare to the way politicians have harnessed imagery in their rhetoric. I also specialise in catering to individual needs and I have had particular successes with students with AHD.
I first started tutoring many years ago, when I first qualified. Over the years, I have tutored an enormous range of students to exam success - or just to feel more confident with their English speaking skills. I have now stepped away from full-time teaching in order to work for myself - but I still love tutoring!
I love teaching English and helping students realise that language is the best tool to empower themselves. In today's digital age, communication and the means to communicate effectively are more important than ever. But I also enjoy teaching the beauty of language, how a well chosen phrase can connect us emotionally with another's experience.
My teaching style is friendly and approachable. I am very calm and patient and like a giggle! This ensures that the lessons don't feel too arduous and students can learn at their own pace - providing they are willing to be challenged to be the best that they can be at this pace!
