Greenhouse gases are gases that can absorb radiation from the sun, this energy heats up the Earth's atmosphere and causes climate change.

The main greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane and water vapour. Methane is a more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide as methane absorbs more energy from the sun's radiation.
