Business operations are the parts of the business that perform the delivery of the main product or service. They differ from the support departments or functions of the business such as Finance, HR or Procurement. As a result, business operations can differ more markedly between different companies particularly in terms of sector. This distinction is noted in the strategy literature from positioning perspectives.
