Mineral water contains HCO3- and Ca2+ ions in small portions. These are deposited throughout the millions of years forming CaCO3 layers (which is the main constituent of limestone). Movement of techtonic plates resulted in the dislocation of parts of the ground which provided today's limestone mountains.
