This attack is known as a "brute force" attack. It cracks passwords by essentially guessing likely passwords, such as "password" or "12345", this is typically automated using a password cracker program. However, it only works for simple passwords since the computer will struggle to guess more complicated one.

Hi Ruth,

This type of attack is called a brute-force attack. A brute-force attack is when an attacker submits various different passwords, usernames etc., and uses trial and error in hopes of guessing correctly.

I hope this helps!
