There are more than 30 species of fish that are within Alaska's coastal waters. The five that are most commonly fished are King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Pink Salmon, Sockeye Salmon and Chum Salmon.

Halibut: The Pacific halibut is a highly valued species, both commercially and recreationally.

Pollock: Alaska pollock is one of the most significant species in the global fishing industry, used in products like fish sticks and imitation crab.

Cod: Both Pacific cod and black cod (sablefish) are important species in Alaska's fisheries.

Crab: Several species of crab are harvested, including king crab, snow crab, and Dungeness crab.

Rockfish: Various species of rockfish are caught along Alaska's rocky coastlines.

Herring: Often harvested for their roe, herring is another important fishery in Alaska.

Flatfish: Species like sole and flounder are also fished in Alaskan waters.
