Hi Bradley! Nuclear fission is when you have a nucleus of an atom that splits into 2 or more smaller nuclei, which also produces a lot of energy.
The splitting of a large and unstable nucleus (e.g., Uranium or Plutonium) into two smaller, more stable nuclei as well as producing three more neutrons and radiation in the form of gamma rays.
