Taught Religious Studies and Philosophy for 25 years.
Only two points here...but there are lots more.
One big disadvantage of Faith Schools is the closed nature. It is healthy to have things questioned so that children may have a closed viewpoint. Schools should be places where minds are opened, and pupils encounter ideas they may never come across in the home.
Another disadvantage is that it could be argued that they work against social cohesion. One thin that society needs is more not less integration. Lessons in Faith schools should not be designed to transmit an uncritical acceptance of one particular religious worldview.
