What is the definition of purity?

In chemistry, how much of a single compound or element does a substance contain. This is different from common usage. You might see a label for pure orange juice on a container in a supermarket if it is made just from oranges. However, as orange juice is composed of a mixture of chemicals, by definition for a chemist it is impure!
