A formulation is just a useful mixture of specific proportions. Many products therefore that we use are useful mixtures: petrol contains a mixture of hydrocarbons and ethanol; cosmetics are a careful blend of oils and pigments; many food products contain a careful blend of ingredients including preservatives, colourings and other additives.
