The poem talks about how paper is used by architects, shopkeepers and bookbinders are practical uses of paper. These images provide an extended metaphor for human skin and life. The poem also talks about things being created such as man-made constructions like buildings and borderlines are compared with the creation of humans. It gets the reader to question what is important.
