A monologue is a speech performed by one character on stage when they are typically standing alone on stage. Monologues are used to address the characters' innermost thoughts, projecting their stream of consciousness, allowing the audience to see them as transparent figures on stage and understand their intentions and the reasons why they are thinking in a specific way.
